r.24 Waterpark Skills Module (July 21st, 2024)

Description

The American Red Cross r.24 Waterpark Skills module teaches lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in aquatic facilities with waterpark features. This is not a blended learning course.

Candidates must have a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED or Shallow Water Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED.

PREREQUISITES:

• Minimum age: 15 years old
• Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence: Jump into water, totally submerge, recover to the surface and swim 50 yards, maintain position at surface and tread water using legs only or float for 2 minutes, swim 50 more yards.
• Complete a timed event within 50 seconds by starting in the water swim 20 yards, Submerge to a depth of 4-7 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, Return to the surface and swim 20 yards, return to the starting point with both hands while holding the object, and exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

Students are required to have a copy of the Lifeguarding Manual. A digital copy will be provided to all students. A hard copy of the Lifeguarding Manual is available for purchase, it can added to the cart at the link below.
